USS STERETT SAILORS

On a hot Monday in August, over 40 sailors from the USS Sterett joined forces with neighborhood volunteers and other sponsors to clean and green the Indiana Street Playground.  Continuing a long naval tradition of giving back to the local communities they visit, the sailors from the USS Sterett worked in Westport while their ship was docked in Baltimore at the South Locust Point Cruise Terminal for its official commissioning ceremony.

Learn more about the amazing day the USS Sterett sailors spent in Westport, and check out the many photos in the USS Sterett Project Photo Album.

 ROTARY CLUB OF BALTIMORE CITY

The Rotary Club of Baltimore City was a most generous sponsor of the USS Sterett Indiana Street Playground Clean-Up.  They provided tents, tables & chairs, lunch, new tools, even the Ivy Block. The efforts of the many Rotary Club volunteers who worked alongside the sailors were appreciated just as much as their sponsorship.  Look for more partnerships with the Rotary Club of Baltimore City as the revitalization of the neighborhood continues.
