Check out the Westport Blue Jays -- 2011 Baltimore Baseball
League Champions! The championship game against the Dickey Hill
Baseball Team was a tight and exciting game. The two
best teams in the league both played their best, resulting
in extra innings to break a tie. Finally, Westport took the
championship with a score of 9 to 8. Led by Coach Christopher James for
the second year, the team ended the season undefeated. Three cheers for the Westport Blue
Jays! And special thanks to the
Rotary Club of Baltimore City for sponsoring the Westport Blue Jays
Baseball Team for the second year and making this exciting season
possible for Westport's kids and their families. |

Westport Neighborhood Association held its 1st Annual Spring Fair on May 2, 2009. The neighborhood came out to celebrate Spring in Westport. A Moon Bounce and Giant Slide, a jumpin' DJ, flea market tables, good food, good drink and good company. Thanks to all of the neighbors who donated goodies for the Bake Sale table, And special thanks to the neighborhood volunteers who went the extra mile and worked in the booths to help make the festival a success! Westport Community Partnerships and Turner Development gave holiday gift baskets, (packed in Baltimore City recycling bins), to every family in Westport. But it could not have happened without the help of Westport Neighborhood Association, Westport Academy, and the many neighborhood volunteers who put together and handed out over 600 bins full of goodies on December 20, 2008. Check out the Gift Basket Giveaway photos of some of the wonderful volunteers sharing the joys of the season. |

Westport's history is a fascinating story to tell, but it's even better with pictures. Special thanks to lifelong Westport neighbor, Louis Demely, whose grandfather owned the Westport Drug Store, for sharing his wonderful family photos dating as far back as 1917. Step 2 in the restoration of the Indiana Street Playground was undertaken by over 100 volunteers, 40 of whom were sailors from the USS Sterett, docked in South Baltimore in early August, 2008.
